Bruce Cockburn is revered by fans and fellow musicians as one of the most important songwriters of his generation. Cockburn began his career in the 1970s and has released thirty-one albums over the past four decades. He has won thirteen Juno Awards, was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2001, and has been honored as an officer of the Order of Canada. Many of Cockburn’s songs explore humanitarian and environmental issues, and he has performed at benefits for small environmental organizations in Canada and the United States. Cockburn’s most recent album, Small Source of Comfort, was released in 2011.
