Shane Claiborne is one of the founding members of a New Monastic community called The Simple Way in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Simple Way is known for its emphasis on community, racial reconciliation, and peacemaking. Claiborne is also a prominent activist for nonviolence and the redistribution of resources to the poor. His book, The Irresistible Revolution: Living as an Ordinary Radical, explores what it means to live a truly Christian lifestyle. Claiborne also co-authored the book Jesus for President, which examines the path Christians should follow when allegiances to the state clash with personal faith. His most recent book, co-authored with Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove and Enuma Okoro, is Common Prayer: A Liturgy for Ordinary Radicals.
