Scott Teems

Scott Teems is the director and screenwriter of the film That Evening Sun, based on William Gay’s short story “I Hate to See that Evening Sun Go Down.” Released theatrically in 2009, the film was nominated for two Film Independent Spirit Awards, won the Emerging Narrative Screenplay Award at the IFP Market, and received the Wyatt Award from the Southeastern Film Critics Association. Teems is currently adapting Damon Galgut’s novel, The Quarry, for his second film. He is also adapting Stephen King’s novella, The Breathing Method, as well as Abraham Verghese’s novel, Cutting for Stone, for Oscar-winning director Susanne Bier. Teems lives in Pasadena, California.
