Amy Julia Becker
Amy Julia Becker writes about theology, disability, family, and culture. Her writing and her faith have been shaped by major life experiences. Becker’s first memoir, Penelope Ayers, explores the year she spent taking care of her mother-in-law who was battling cancer. Her second book, A Good and Perfect Gift, chronicles Becker’s journey after her daughter Penny was diagnosed at birth with Down syndrome. The experiences shared in each story expanded and enriched Becker’s understanding of what it means to be human and to receive each person as a gift. In addition to her books, Becker has written several essays that have appeared in Christian Century, ChristianityToday.com, Bloom, and many other publications.
