Richard Cowdrey

Working as a freelance artist since 1981, Richard Cowdrey has illustrated many children’s picture books, including the New York Times No.1 bestseller Bad Dog, Marley! and four other Marley picture books based on John Grogan’s popular memoir Marley & Me. A recent picture book of his is a newly illustrated edition of The Legend of the Easter Egg. He also painted the covers for the New York Times bestselling middle-grade fantasy series Guardians of Ga’hoole. His advertising clients have included Honda, Wendy’s, and the National Football League—for whom he designed the official poster and program for Super Bowl XXXII—among many others. Cowdrey lives in Gambier, Ohio, and when he’s not drawing he enjoys visiting schools to share his love of illustration.
