John Darnielle

John Darnielle is a musician and author, best known as the frontman for the Mountain Goats, an indie folk rock band. He is the author of two books: Black Sabbath: Master of Reality, and a novel, Wolf in White Van, that was nominated for the National Book Award for Fiction in 2014. He also writes the “South Pole Dispatch” backpage column in Decibel Magazine each month and guest edited the poetry section of The Mays, an anthology often credited with launching the career of fellow FFW speaker Zadie Smith. He resides in Durham, NC, with his wife and two sons.
