Call for Papers
Paper proposals intended for the CCL should be 200-300 words and should be submitted by e-mail to cclconference@calvin.edu no later than November 1, 2011.
Papers and panels might consider (but are by no means limited to) topics such as whether story can preach without being preachy, whether confessional poetry embraces or eschews repentance, the role of literature in a technological society, and the like. Papers or panels addressing matters of pedagogy or texts written in world languages are welcome. Also welcome are papers or panels that examine the work of any of the Festival of Faith and Writing’s presenters.
The CCL will also jury papers for an undergraduate track of panels; students interested in this track should send complete 8-10 page papers, labeled “undergraduate,” to the organizers at cclconference@calvin.edu no later than November 1, 2011. We are eager to include promising undergraduates in the CCL and encourage qualified students to submit their work.
Scholars may also submit papers for consideration for the academic track at the Festival of Faith and Writing. Full manuscripts (8-10 pages) must be submitted to cclconference@calvin.edu no later than November 1, 2011. Scholars are welcome to submit materials both for the CCL conference (abstracts only) and for the academic track of the Festival (full manuscripts). Papers intended for the Festival should be fitted to the Festival’s constituents, who tend to be serious lay readers rather than specialists. Those delivering papers at the Festival of Faith and Writing must additionally register for the Festival.
All participants will be notified by early December and must register by January 15.
